 Children's Classes    Ages 8 - 12
We use Stitches & Pins, a curriculum written and tested by successful homeschoolers,  JoAnn & Corrie Gagnon since 2002 a wonderful program specially designed for teaching kids to sew.   Thousands of kids have learned to sew with this easy to follow workbook and patterns designed so even the young ones can follow it.   There are 7-9 months of  projects and learning in each workbook level.

 Students will learn to sew basic clothing items such as skirts, blouses, pants, and nightshirt.  They will also learn to use the basic patterns and alter them to design their own style.  This learning will be in a positive, encouraging environment where students progress at their own pace.  They will surprise themselves and you at how much creativity, individuality, and style will come out as they learn this wonderful life skill.

Classes are about 1 hour weekly, all sewing done in class.  Each student has their own workbook and patterns.  Each level has 7 to 9 months of projects to fill an entire school year of learning and having fun.

Fill out and remit with deposit to reserve a seat in that class.

 Classes will be taught on computerized Janome sewing machines with one step buttonholes, 30 stitches and dropping feed dogs for free-motion sewing and  quilting. ( Illustration at right is exact model used.)
                                                                                                                                                  
Skill Level #1  Beginner - Stitches & Pins
 Learn the basics: operation of the sewing machine, fabric layout, cutting, elastic casings, hemming, facings, and Much, more!  Projects include, pillow case,bookcover,laundry bag, pajama pants, skirt,vest, potholders,apron,doll quilt, etc..

Skill Level #2  Intermediate - Pins & Needles   Level #2 is started after all the projects in Level #1 are completed.   Instruction includes buttonholes, making pockets, machine applique, set-in sleeves, collars, darts, gathering, zippers and more.

Skill level #3 - Heirloom sewing (more info coming!)
